Both taking place in Angra do Heroismo (Azores Islands, Portugal) in October, the deadline for application to the Summer school “Volcanism, Plate Tectonics, Hydrothermal vents and life” and the deadline for registration and abstract submission for the Conference “Life in the sub-surface” are on the 1st of July (in just 4 days!!)

The meeting “Commercial Space Exploration and Travel – Chances and Risks” organised by the EAI will take place at Malmfälten Adult Education Centre in Kiruna (Sweden ) from September 25th in the morning to September 27th in the evening. It will bring scientists, students, politicians, journalists and other stakeholders together to discuss the ethical, political legal, societal and environmental aspects of commercial space travel.
Apart from offering a very interesting programme, the meeting will take place during Lapland’s very beautiful Indian Summer, which enables good opportunities to see the Northern Lights. The following themes will be covered:

The meeting “Life in the Sub-Surface: Habitats, species, metabolism and survival strategies” organised by the EAI will take place in Angra (in the Azores Islands, Portugal) from the 25th to the 27th of October 2023. It will focus on the following subjects:
 It will be held at the very modern Centro Cultural e de Congressos offering
ideal setting. The location Angra (in the Azores Islands, Portugal) is a picturesque city and has plenty of good restaurants and clean and affordable hotels with good
services.
The EAI project team “Astrobiology and Art” will organise a multimedia event on the first day. The speleological society “Os Montanheiros” will organise an exhibition of life in Azorean lava caves.

Join on the 26th January 2023 the Space Science in Context (SSiC): a FREE online conference that unpacks the social dimensions of outer space.
There will be three panels of invited speakers who will be live in conversation – on Space and the Environment; Space, Technology and Dual-Use; and Labour and Space – packed with wonderful speakers, and two poster sessions of contributions from around the world on how space interacts with local social contexts.Â

We are back! For our first in person event in two years, AbGradE teams up with EPEC for EPSC2022, expanding network opportunities for early career scientists and students.
This year we invite you on Sunday, September 18th for a symposium-style meeting with a program comprising of contributed talks from early career scientists, keynote presentations and an update from AbGradE and EPEC regarding our activities and future events.
The event will be held 10 am to 4pm at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada, Room Andalucia 2. A detailed program and further details will be shared at the beginning of September.

For contributed talks, a submission of a short abstract (max. 200 words) is required until August 24th.  We invite early careers to present their work which they either present as a poster at EPSC22 or any other project not presented at EPSC22. Letters of acceptance will be sent out by August 31st.Â
